Undertake the Cert III in Hospitality course in ITeC’s well-appointed training kitchen and gain real-life hospitality experience in our onsite training cafe The Fox & The Miller. This is a hospitality industry course that prepares you for the real world.
Our Cert 3 in Hospitality course covers all aspects of working in such a diverse industry to provide a sound knowledge of industry operations. Understanding the requirements of a recipe, gathering everything you need for a service period, how to work effectively within a team but most importantly creating food that is exciting and not boring.
In the Certificate III in Hospitality you will undertake:
• Practical activities to develop skills & knowledge in a food & beverage environment.
• Learn to work with others in a diverse industry developing customer service & communication skills.
• Learn & reflect by applying thinking, problem-solving skills, plan & applying time management strategies.

Food and drink preparation
Students will learn the fundamentals of food and drink preparation including how to operate ITeC’s commercial coffee machine by creating silky and luscious coffee, deliver high quality customer service, preparing a variety of non-alcoholic beverages using industry standard equipment, prepare and present simple dishes, sandwiches, appetisers, salads and more.
Food safety and equipment
Students will learn the importance of food safety through maintaining a clean working environment. Maintaining equipment in order to retain correct functionality and cleanliness. Observing food hazards and demonstrating how to eliminate them. Understanding the importance of following hygiene procedures, being aware of bacterial hazards and use hygienic practices for food safety.
WHS and legislation
Students will learn the importance of legislative requirements, rules and regulations and other requirements while working in the hospitality industry. They will also learn about Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislations, guidelines and requirements.

• Good internet knowledge and ready access to the internet.

The Fox & The Miller
Gain skills and experience working at ITeC’s new student cafe
The Fox & The Miller Cafe will be operating out of ITeC’s Hospitality Training Kitchen. Run by ITeC’s Hospitality students. Students will be responsible for stock, taking orders, meal preparation and cooking, customer service and much more. Running the cafe will give students valuable “real life” hands on training experience to get job ready for work in the hospitality industry.
