Organise and facilitate leisure and health programs for older people

This course develops your skills and knowledge to be able to assess the individual needs of residents and clients requiring support and develop and implement leisure activities or programs to support everyday living. This qualification covers the design, implementation and evaluation of health and leisure programs in the Aged Care Sector. The course is part of an exciting and diverse career pathway in the community services and health care sectors.

Cert 4 Leisure and Health

This nationally accredited course equips you with the skills to create engaging activities that promote well-being, independence, and social connection for older adults. You’ll learn how to assess individual needs, design meaningful leisure programs, and implement them in residential care, community settings, and healthcare facilities.

Assessments

You will be assessed a number of ways. These methods may include:

  • Written questions
  • Role-plays
  • Observation in the classroom in a simulated environment
  • Observation in the workplace
Entry Requirements

• Sound internet knowledge and ready access to the internet.
• Able to use a computer and have sound digital literacy skills.
• Reading and writing skills to answer assessment questions.
• Be able to meet the physical requirements of the job tasks e.g. facilitate group physical exercise sessions, stand for extended periods, assist older people to go on bus trips.

Orientation Day

Orientation Day at ITeC Academy is a compulsory first step for all students and sets you up for success right from the start. Most commonly held face-to-face (unless your Course Package specifies otherwise), Orientation runs for approximately half a day and provides essential information about your upcoming studies. If you can’t attend on the scheduled date, it’s important to let ITeC Academy know prior to enrolment.

During Orientation, students are introduced to what’s expected of them as learners and given a clear overview of the course structure and key milestones. You will also cover important compliance information, policies and procedures, and a rundown of support services available to help you throughout your training. Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) responsibilities are explained, along with how to access learning resources, assessment processes, and communication channels so you feel confident, informed, and ready to begin your course.
