In this Cert III in Individual Support course, you will develop the core skills to work with older people in a range of care environments including; in home care and residential care. In these jobs, person-centred support is provided to older people meeting their individual needs. With no entry requirements or pre-requisites applicable to this course, there is no easier way to get started!

This qualification is considered the baseline standard for people entering the aged care sector. This course prepares you to engage with older people, understand their needs, communicate effectively and be able to perform the basic skills expected of a new care worker.

    Assessments

    You will be assessed a number of ways. These methods may include:

    • Written questions
    • Role-plays
    • Observation in the classroom in a simulated environment
    • Observation in the workplace
    Entry Requirements

    • Basic internet knowledge and ready access to the internet.
    • Able to use a computer and have basic digital literacy skills.
    • Reading and writing skills to answer assessment questions.
    • Be able to meet the physical requirements of the job tasks e.g. make beds, stand for extended periods.
    • Provide evidence police check and vaccination status (including current fluvax) prior to workplacement.
    • Preferably has own computer/device compatible to course requirements.
    *For self-directed learning pathway students must be existing workers in the aged care/health sector.
