Pre production in creative industries includes Screenplay writing using industry standard formatting of your script, creating shot lists, shooting schedules, inventory lists, release forms and more. These are required in order to plan and organise shoots for the production stage to run smoothly and are an essential phase in film and media production.

The production stage is when you will learn to use camera fundamentals such as focus, exposure, iso, frame composition, lenses, filters and various other camera settings and techniques, lighting setups including three point lighting, using reflectors, diffusion and more. You will also learn how to use audio field recorders, boom microphones, setting recording levels and more in order to capture sound for your screen and media projects. Gain experience using Adobe Premiere Pro to edit footage and create titles.

The post production stage consists of learning how to bring all of your footage and assets together in order to create a final product. This includes organisation of media assets, ingestion of footage and video editing in order to export a final product. You will also learn about delivery platforms, screen formats and codecs, naming conventions and more. You will learn the skills to be able to export screen content for a range of applications from social media to film festivals and various outputs for the screen industry and film industry.

The job roles may include editing assistant, assistant digital content creator, assistant sound technician, assistant audio visual technician, assistant radio producer, podcast producer, community radio producer, community radio presenter, junior animator, camera assistant and technical production assistant. Individuals usually work under direction, using some discretion and judgement, and may provide technical advice and support to a team.
