Become a Qualified Food Safety Supervisor in the Hospitality and Food Sector

Why Food Safety Matters in the Food Industry and Community Services

Proper food safety supervision plays a critical role in protecting the public from foodborne illness, preventing contamination, and complying with food regulation. Appointing a qualified Food Safety Supervisor helps ensure your business or organisation meets its legal obligations under the NSW Food Act and minimises the risk of food act offences.

The role of a Food Safety Supervisor is more than just certification—it’s about actively supervising staff, applying hygiene protocols, and maintaining a safe and clean food environment. Your ability to safely handle food, support your team, and implement food safety programs will significantly reduce the risk of food contamination in your workplace.

Assessment and Certification – What You Need to Know

To achieve your Food Safety Supervisor certification, you must complete:

  • Online learning and knowledge checks

  • Identifying and implementing food safety practices and hygiene procedures
