Food Safety and Food Preparation

At ITeC Academy, we place a strong emphasis on food safety and proper food preparation techniques. In the SIT20322 – Certificate II in Hospitality, you’ll learn the essential practices required to maintain high standards of hygiene in the kitchen, ensuring that all food is prepared safely and responsibly.

Through the core unit SITXFSA005 – Use hygienic practices for food safety, you’ll gain a solid understanding of food safety regulations and how to apply them in real-world settings. This includes safe handling, storage, and preparation of ingredients to minimize risks of contamination. You’ll learn how to identify potential food hazards and follow strict hygiene procedures, protecting both yourself and your customers.

In the elective units focused on food preparation—SITHCCC024 – Prepare and present simple dishes, SITHCCC025 – Prepare and present sandwiches, and SITHCCC028 – Prepare appetisers and salads—you’ll also get hands-on experience in crafting a variety of dishes. From basic sandwich-making to creating fresh salads and appetizers, you’ll develop the skills needed to prepare food efficiently while maintaining food safety standards.

By the end of the course, you’ll be fully equipped to handle food safely and confidently, whether you’re working in a café, restaurant, or catering service.
