We’re thrilled to share the success of ITeC Academy’s trades workshop delivered to Amity College students from 26th-28th February! This practical, industry-focused course was packed with learning opportunities for students pursuing careers in Bricklaying, Carpentry, and Tiling.
Here’s a glimpse into the skills covered during the workshop:
Tiling: Students learned to line shed frames with ceramic tile underlay. Use a laser level for precise tile placement, and mix tiling adhesive to ensure optimal coverage. They also gained hands-on experience grouting tiles, laying a 1800 x 900 mm wall, and demolishing and recycling building materials.
Carpentry: They used advanced techniques such as the Pythagorean theorem to calculate diagonal measurements and set out sites. The students learned how to use power and hand tools, construct shed bases, install flooring, and construct & install connecting wall frames.
Bricklaying: Explanation of the string line and how it is used in Bricklaying. Practical tasks included starting to construct a straight brick wall, and practice building brick piers.
This hands-on workshop is part of ITeC Academy’s commitment to equipping students with the skills they need to excel in the trades industry. Well done to everyone involved!
